Big plans are set and ready for lift-off at the Plettenberg Bay Airport. These big plans were revealed as RSA.Aero presented its master plan to Bitou Council last week.
This, as the new manager started at the airport on Monday 6 May 2024, and operations begin on 1 July 2024. This strategic partnership between Bitou Municipality is poised to bring about transformative changes and propel the tourism sector to new heights.
The group has said that they have adopted a zone-based development approach for the building of the numerous precincts.
Previously, Plett Tourism CEO Patty Butterworth said that tourism plays a pivotal role in driving socio-economic prosperity in the region and the nation at large. “South Africa, with the concerted efforts of organisations such as Wesgro and SA Tourism, has established itself as a global tourism destination.”
The Western Cape, particularly the City of Cape Town, is consistently recognised as preferred destinations and the Garden Route, with its myriad premier tourism offerings, contributes significantly to this reputation.
“The Plettenberg Bay Airport plays a crucial role in our marketing efforts at Plett Tourism. We ‘sell’ directly access to our domestic and international travellers regularly.”
