Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival Returns to Kay & Monty Vineyards
The popular Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival is back! This autumn, on April 26th and 27th, Kay & Monty Vineyards will host the event in partnership with Plett Tourism. This festival celebrates the hidden gem of South African wine, offering tastings of exclusive W.O. Plettenberg Bay wines. Expect masterclasses, live music, and delicious snacks.
Held over the Freedom Day long weekend, the two-day event welcomes everyone, from serious wine collectors to casual connoisseurs. Winemakers and vineyard managers will also be there, sharing their knowledge. It's a chance to celebrate good wine and good company.
The Plett Wine Route, stretching from Harkerville to The Crags, is a small but vibrant wine region. The area's warm summers and mild winters are perfect for growing Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir grapes. These grapes are used to make the region's signature still and sparkling wines.
Recent awards highlight the quality of Plett wines. Newstead won the Best Producer Award at the Amorim Cap Classique Challenge 2024. Kay & Monty Vineyards and Newstead both received Double Gold in the Extended Lees Ageing category. This is a big achievement for these family-run vineyards.

About Kay & Monty Vineyards
Kay & Monty Vineyards, once a protea and dairy farm, is now a 220-hectare wine farm, polo estate, and wedding venue. Chick Legh bought the land in 2004 and planted the first vines in 2009. The first vintage was produced in 2012, making Kay & Monty one of the pioneers of the Plett Wine Route.
Chick's family, General Manager Jennifer Woods, and winemaker Anton Smal continue his legacy. They create unique wines that Chick would have enjoyed.
