Cafe Civara Plettenberg Bay

Introducing Café Civara, a wholehearted space owned and run on the palate of Chef Guy Clark.

Tucked in the heart of Plettenberg Bay – at The Junction Hotel – Café Civara is a fresh, thoughtful addition to Main Street: a place shaped by honest food, fresh ingredients, immaculate flavours, warmth and the kind of care that makes people feel at home.

Clark is a well-known South African chef, a former MasterChef South Africa contestant, celebrated for his innovative fusion cuisine and for incorporating local ingredients with global techniques, offering unique culinary experiences.

The story behind Civara begins long before opening week. Some will remember Chef Guy Clark’s time consulting for Café Pure in 2020, where he quietly left fingerprints of creativity and intention on the menu. Since then, Guy has gathered years of experience through his travels, refining his craft and deepening his love for food that brings people together.  Civara is the first space that carries his name, not as a spotlight, but as an invitation.

Guy leads with soul. Every plate is built with clarity and purpose: good ingredients, simple techniques, and flavours that feel familiar yet surprising. The Café itself mirrors that , calm, modern and warm, without trying too hard. Just a place that feels right.

Since opening, the response from locals and visitors has meant the world to us. Plett is a town that holds many stories and many seasons of people’s lives, and we’re grateful to now be a small part of that.

Café Civara is currently open daily for lunch and from the 1st of December, will be open for dinner too, where we will shift into an intimate, beautifully refined bistro, a place for slow evenings, good wine, and thoughtfully composed plates. Expect fresh menus, special offers and interesting collaborations over the summer and we look forward to welcoming the Plett community through our doors.
