Plettenberg Bay Airport Revamp Coming Soon

The airport is set to transform into a regional aviation hub, attracting more visitors and creating new opportunities for businesses. The tender, awarded after a rigorous selection process, includes plans for:

Spruced-up facilities: New hangars, a modern terminal building, and a resurfaced runway will enhance comfort and convenience for passengers.

Independent operation: By handing over the reins to experts, Bitou Municipality aims to ensure safe and efficient air access for the region.

Increased connectivity: More flight options are on the horizon, thanks to "actionable promises" in the bidding document. This will make Plettenberg Bay even more accessible to domestic and international tourists.

Economic boost: The project is expected to create jobs and generate positive economic spin-offs for the town and surrounding areas.

Plett Tourism CEO, Patty Butterworth, is thrilled with the development. "The Plett airport is a key marketing tool for our industry," she says, "and we look forward to the economic benefits and job creation this will bring."

This revamp marks a significant milestone for Plettenberg Bay, positioning it as a key player in the Garden Route's tourism industry. With a modern airport and improved connectivity, the town is set to soar to new heights.
