The 10th Plett Arts Festival, a vibrant celebration of art and creativity, took Plettenberg Bay by storm from September 29th to October 8th, 2023. With over 60 exciting events spread across ten days, this year's festival continued to impress, drawing a diverse audience from far and wide.

Returning favourites graced the stage, including renowned chef Karen Dudley, the talented painter William Mwale, the captivating poet Was Lemuel, the multi-talented musician-turned-artist Arno Carstens, land artist Cheryl Traub-Adler, and the enchanting Ancient Voice's Lulu Plaatjies. The festival ended on a high note with John Hassan and his band Hassan'adas.

One of the festival's highlights was the collaboration between accomplished artists and local talent. Plett played host to a variety of events, some for the very first time, alongside familiar favourites like Plett Food & Film and Plett ARTS Twilight Meander. The African Waves Arts Festival (AWAF) played a significant role in the program this year, bringing South African legends who are making waves in the international music arena. John Hassan, with his band Hassan'adas, and Lulu Plaatjies with Ancient Voices, delivered cultural crossover performances that left the audience inspired.

Music took centre stage this year, with Kwanokuthula's music scene thriving. Bands, solo vocalists, and DJs delighted audiences with a wide range of musical genres, from jazz and rock to amapiano and house. The legendary Silver Creek Mountain Band even took many on a nostalgic trip down memory lane while the New Horizons community used the festival as a platform to launch their NH Market Day, set to become a monthly event featuring crafts, cooking, cars, and local culture. It promises to be an exciting addition to Plett's calendar.

The Plett SPARK Land Art Route expanded its program into forest and fynbos-scapes, offering a fresh canvas for both local and visiting land artists. This expansion allowed for a deeper exploration of the stunning Plett landscape.

The festival featured a rich tapestry of both traditional and avant-garde artworks, complemented by an array of captivating workshops. A feeling of connection and creativity filled the town, making the 10th Plett Arts Festival into an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Now in its tenth year, the Plett ARTS Festival has established itself as a unique and special event for art, music, film, poetry, dance, nature, and food lovers alike. With the dates for the 2024 Plett ARTS Festival already confirmed for September 20-29, 2024, there's much to look forward to!
